Transportation in Megeve
Megeve, an alpine resort located in the French Alps, is easily accessible from Lyon and Chambéry thanks to various transportation options.
From Lyon, the drive takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Once there, you will find numerous parking options, including covered, open-air, and underground lots, some free and others paid.
For those who prefer public transportation, a TGV train from Lyon Part-Dieu station will take you to Sallanches – Combloux – Megeve in 3 to 4 hours, followed by a short shuttle or taxi ride to Megeve. BlaBlaCar buses are also available, taking approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Once you arrive in Megeve, free shuttles are available to facilitate getting around the resort, allowing you to enjoy your stay without any logistical worries.
How to get to Megeve from Lyon or Chambery ?
BY CAR
From Lyon, the journey takes approximately 2.5 hours with tolls and 4 hours without. Once you arrive, covered, open-air, and underground parking options are available, both free and paid.

TRAIN
Here’s how to get to Megeve by train:
From Lyon:
Take a TGV from Lyon Part-Dieu to Sallanches – Combloux – Megève (approximately 3-4 hours), then a shuttle or taxi to Megève (approximately 20 minutes).
Take a bus from Lyon Perrache to Sallanches – Combloux – Megève (the journey will take approximately 4 hours by BlaBlaCar Bus).
From Chambéry:
Take a TER train from Chambéry-Challes-les-Eaux to Sallanches – Combloux – Megève (approximately 2 hours), then a shuttle or taxi to Megève (approximately 20 minutes). Note that depending on the route you choose, you may have either one or two connections.
Take a BlaBlaCar Bus from Chambéry to Sallanches – Combloux – Megève (approximately 3 hours 30 minutes).
BY PLANE
The nearest airports are Geneva Airport, located 1 hour from the resort, and Lyon Airport, 2 hours 30 minutes away. You can therefore take the train or drive from either of these airports to reach Megève.
